Gillian Campbell and Jilly Perry rowed in a composite 8 racing at Veteran
B.
They finished 3rd out of 12
Sunday 29th April
Nott’s City Regatta
Gillian Campbell and Jilly Perry – Women’s SII 2x
They had originally entered Veteran C but due to lack of entries had
to race at SII
Gillian had to step in at the last minute
They did well to reach the final – overall finish position was
6th out of 12.
Sunday 17th June
National Veterans Championships
Jilly Perry – 1x Veteran C - made the final to finish 5th
Richard Williams – 1x Veteran B
Gillian Campbell and Jilly Perry joined in composite Veteran 4x with
Sally Horrocks and Liz Pulford of Leicester. They won Veteran C 4x.
Monday 25th June

Torrential Rain
As the result of a tremendous amount of rainfall the river burst its
banks and flooded the bottom boathouse
Friday 13th and Saturday 14th July
Henley Veteran Regatta
Gillian Campbell and Jilly Perry again joined with Liz Pulford and Sally
Horrocks of Leicester to win Veteran C 4x.
Richard Williams raced Veteran B 1x and also rowed in a composite Vet
E 8 with Derby Rowing Club
Sunday 15th July
Derby Merlin Round Table Regatta
Unfortunately due to excessive rain the Regatta had to be cancelled.
This was the first time in its history as they are usually blessed with
wonderful dry sunny weather.
May/June /July
Major redecoration and repair of the Rowing Club in preparation of the
Celebration in August. Many thanks to all club members who participated.
Saturday 4th August
Derwent Rowing Club 150 Year Celebration Dinner.
This was a grand occasion with a marquee on the lawn. Guests were met
with a glass of bucks fizz and were serenaded by the sound of classical
guitar music. The weather stayed warm and dry
It was a fantastic evening where old friends were able to relive their
past experiences on and off the river.
Saturday 11th August
Peterborough Regatta
Jilly Perry and Gillian Campbell again joined with Liz Pulford and Sally
Horrocks to race Women’s S II 4x. . They had entered Veteran but
unfortunately there was no opposition.
Thursday 6th – Sunday 9th September
FISA World Rowing Masters Regatta
Zagreb – Croatia
We had been promised hot sunshine but in the end it was the coldest
September on record with rain from midday Wednesday to midday Saturday.
We had problems getting boats across, the 2x we hired was too big and
Fran had to sub in at the last minute for Liz of Leicester in both 4x
and 4-.

Some
members stayed in Croatia for a rest and recuperation to see Fran and
Attilla be married by that well known 'Master of Ceremonies' ......Lewis
Hancock...the legend!

In their very first event the Men’s 4+ coached by Alun Richards
Jones won Novice 4+ .Having only just started rowing this summer it
was an excellent achievement.

Newark Head cancelled – river too high.
